C. William Hanke

Dr. C. William Hanke, MD, MPH, FACP, is a triple board-certified dermatologic surgeon and the founder and Medical Director of the Laser and Skin Surgery Center of Indiana (LASSI) in Indianapolis, established in 1998. He is an inductee of the Dermatology Hall of Fame and was the first physician in the United States to hold a triple professorship at Indiana University School of Medicine in Dermatology, Pathology, and Otolaryngology. He graduated from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, completed his dermatology residency at the Cleveland Clinic, and fellowships in Mohs Micrographic Surgery (Cleveland Clinic) and dermatopathology (IU). He also holds a Master's degree in Epidemiology from the University of Hawaii. He served as President of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American College of Mohs Surgery, and the International Society for Dermatologic Surgery, among 13 total professional society presidencies. He first published the term "Mohs Micrographic Surgery" in 1985. He has authored over 400 contributions to the medical literature including 111 book chapters and 29 books, placing him in the 97th percentile of physician authors. He has lectured in 25 countries and performed live surgery in 7 countries. He is consistently listed in Best Doctors in America and America's Top Docs.
