Carlos G. Wambier

Dr. Carlos Gustavo Wambier, MD, PhD, is a board-certified dermatologist and Associate Professor of Dermatology (Clinician Educator) at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He is the Director of Cosmetic Dermatology Research at Brown Dermatology, Director of the Center for Laser and Aesthetics, Medical Director of Clinical Trials at the Dermatology Clinical Trials Center at Rhode Island Hospital, and Director of the Brown University Health Center for Regenerative Dermatology (since 2024). He received his MD from the University of São Paulo, is board certified by the Brazilian Board of Dermatology (2009), and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale School of Medicine (2018-2019). He is internationally recognized as a leading authority on phenol-croton oil chemical peels, having ministered over 50 hands-on workshops worldwide and pioneered the stabilization of phenol-croton oil emulsions with Novisol. His chemical peels research was featured on the cover of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology's 40th anniversary issue (August 2019) and the cover of The Dermatologist (November 2018). He chaired cosmetic dermatology sessions at the World Congress of Dermatology in Italy (2019). He became a major COVID-19 androgen vulnerability researcher, with findings featured in Forbes, Le Monde, and Express UK. He is a dermatologist at the Rhode Island Hospital Burn Center and a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, Association of Professors of Dermatology, International Peeling Society, American Burn Association, and Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society. He is affiliated with Rhode Island Hospital and Miriam Hospital. His offices are at Brown Dermatology, 593 Eddy Street, Providence, and in South Kingstown. Services include chemical peels (phenol-croton oil deep peels, modified Jessner's), laser tattoo removal, Botox, dermal fillers (Juvederm, Restylane, Belotero, Sculptra), Kybella, drug delivery tattooing, hair disorder treatment, microneedling with minoxidil, and regenerative dermatology.
