Thomas Funcik

Dr. Thomas Funcik, MD, is a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon and the owner of Thomas Funcik Facial Plastic Surgery, located at 2671 Brickside Lane, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina 29466. He specializes exclusively in facial procedures and has performed over 10,000 facial surgeries throughout his career.

Dr. Funcik earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his medical degree with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine (1989), where he ranked first during clinical rotations and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his residency in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina (1989–1994) and a fellowship in facial cosmetic surgery at the University of Cincinnati under Dr. Devinder Mangat, the former president of the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (1994–1995).

He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and serves as an assistant professor at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he has trained over 100 physicians. He pioneered the trademarked Charleston Custom Lift and LowCountry Lid Lift procedures. He was among the first National Botox Trainers when the product launched and was the leading provider in SC, NC, GA, and northern FL. He was also the first physician in South Carolina to use Restylane, Dysport, Sculptra, and Artefill. He is one of only a handful of Sculptra National Trainers. His research on decreasing postoperative swelling received the Ben Shuster Memorial Award, and he was elected to the Channel Four Hall of Fame for his participation in the AAFPRS Face to Face domestic violence victims program.
