Ram Kalus

Dr. Ram Kalus, MD, FACS, FAAP, is a board-certified plastic surgeon and the founder of Plastic Surgery of the Carolinas in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, at 578 Lone Tree Drive, established in 1997. He has been in practice in South Carolina since 1990 and has over 40 years of experience. He was born and raised in Israel and grew up in New York City from early childhood, attending the Bronx High School of Science. He earned his BA cum laude in Psychology and his MD from Boston University School of Medicine. He completed general surgery training at Hartford Hospital and the University of Connecticut, plastic surgery training at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and UMass Medical Center in Worcester, the Combined Connecticut Hand Fellowship in Hartford, and trained at the Hospital for Sick Children in Paris, France. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (since 1992), a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of The Aesthetic Society and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and recognized by the American Academy of Pediatrics as a pediatric specialist. He served as Past President and Treasurer of the South Carolina Society of Plastic Surgeons. He founded the Unit of Pediatric Plastic Surgery at Schneider Children's Medical Center in Israel in 1996. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at MUSC and is also licensed in Israel, where he returns to lecture, teach, and perform volunteer surgery in breast reconstruction, burn care, and pediatric plastic surgery. He recently accompanied a humanitarian group to Ukraine to operate on the injured. He is affiliated with MUSC, Roper Hospital (Downtown, Mount Pleasant, James Island), East Cooper Medical Center, Charleston Surgery Center, and Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital. He specializes in mommy makeovers, breast reconstruction (direct to final implant), aesthetic facial surgery, facial reconstruction, and pediatric plastic surgery. He has been voted Best Plastic Surgeon in Charleston by City Paper voters ten years in a row. He has published on breast reconstruction optimization and composite ear reattachment.
