David A. Hidalgo

Dr. David A. Hidalgo, MD, FACS, is a board-certified plastic surgeon at 655 Park Avenue in Manhattan, New York City. He completed a double major in Fine Arts (studio painting) and Biology at Georgetown University, graduating magna cum laude, then earned his MD also at Georgetown. He completed eight years of specialized training in general surgery and plastic surgery at New York University, one of the top programs in the country. He began his career at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center as a reconstructive microsurgeon, eventually becoming Chief of the Plastic and Reconstructive Service. While there, he developed an innovative procedure for jaw reconstruction using fibula bone transfer with microsurgical techniques that became and has remained the standard of care worldwide, published in five landmark papers that brought him international acclaim. In 2001, he departed MSK to focus exclusively on aesthetic surgery. He is a Clinical Professor of Surgery at Weill-Cornell Medical College (NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital) and maintains privileges at Lenox Hill Hospital and Southampton Hospital. His 655 Park Ambulatory Surgery Unit was built by Memorial Sloan Kettering to meet or exceed OSHA and JCAHO standards. He has written over 100 scientific papers, published a surgical textbook, and won the James Barrett Brown Award, one of the most prestigious honors in plastic surgery. He has been named one of New York Magazine's best plastic surgeons every year since the listings began and is included in Castle Connolly's America's Top Doctors. He has been quoted in Vogue, Allure, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Town and Country, and O Magazine, and has appeared on CBS, ABC News, and CNBC.
