About Lilit Garibyan
Dr. Lilit Garibyan, MD, PhD, is a board-certified dermatologist at Massachusetts Dermatology Associates in Beverly, Massachusetts, and an Associate Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School and Physician-Scientist at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. She earned her BS summa cum laude from UCLA in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, and both her MD and PhD (Experimental Pathology/Immunology) from Harvard. She completed her dermatology residency at the Harvard/MGH Combined Program and a fellowship at the Wellman Center under Dr. R. Rox Anderson. She was elected a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors in 2024, the highest distinction exclusively for inventors. She holds over 20 patents and pioneered injectable cooling technology that has led to three venture-backed startups with over $100 million in venture capital funding. Her inventions achieved a 2024 FDA Breakthrough Device Designation for a novel pain therapy. She has published over 60 peer-reviewed publications and secured over $5.5 million in DoD and NIH grants. She received the Women in Energy-Based Devices Award (2020) and the Dr. Horace Furumoto Young Investigator Award for Innovation (2022) from ASLMS. She co-founded the Magic Wand Initiative, which has trained over 120 clinicians worldwide in problem-based innovation. She has also established a medical laser clinic in Yerevan, Armenia as a humanitarian effort. She specializes in medical, surgical, and cosmetic/laser dermatology, cryolipolysis, energy-based devices, and translational research.
