Neelam Vashi

Dr. Neelam Vashi, MD, FAAD, is a board-certified dermatologist at the Dermatology Institute of Boston, Massachusetts, and one of the world's leading experts in hyperpigmentation and skin of color. She earned her MD from Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine through the Honors Program in Medical Education (Alpha Omega Alpha) and completed her dermatology residency at NYU's Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology. She is the former Director of the Boston University Cosmetic and Laser Center and Founding Director of the Boston University Center for Ethnic Skin, one of only a few clinics in the US specializing in skin conditions unique to people from ethnic backgrounds. She is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at BU and Adjunct Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University. She has authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles and four textbooks, including "Dermatoanthropology of Ethnic Skin and Hair" and "The Dermatology Handbook." She received the Presidential Citation Award from the AAD and the 2024 Norman Orentreich Excellence in Research Award. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Skin of Color Society and the Association of Academic Cosmetic Dermatologists, and is a contributing expert for the American Board of Dermatology. Her work has been featured in CNN, Forbes, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, Newsweek, Cosmopolitan, and many more. She specializes in cosmetic dermatology, laser treatments, melasma, hyperpigmentation, skin of color, PicoWay laser, PRFM, chemical peels, and medical dermatology.
