Mathew M. Avram

Dr. Mathew M. Avram, MD, JD, is a board-certified dermatologist and world leader in laser and aesthetic dermatology. He is the Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Dermatology Laser & Cosmetic Center and Director of Dermatologic Surgery at MGH in Boston. He is Associate Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School and Faculty Director for Procedural Training and Laser & Cosmetic Training. He attended Princeton University and completed his dermatology residency at Harvard, where he served as chief resident, followed by a Mohs micrographic surgery, laser, and cosmetics fellowship at UCLA. He served as President of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS, 2017-2018) and as Treasurer and Executive Committee member of the ASDS. He received the 2015 ASLMS Leon Goldman Award for excellence in research, patient care, and education. He is Co-Director of the MGH/Wellman Laser & Cosmetic Fellowship and an affiliate faculty member of the Wellman Center for Photomedicine. He serves on the editorial boards of JAMA Dermatology, Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, and Dermatologic Surgery. He has chaired 17 national meetings and delivered over 300 invited lectures. He is a frequent guest on the Dr. Oz show, ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX, and has appeared in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post.
