Reza Ghohestani

Dr. Reza F. Ghohestani, MD, PhD, is a board-certified dermatologist and the founder and director of the Texas Institute of Dermatology, Laser and Cosmetic Surgery, with locations at 238 North Loop 1604 West, Suite 208, San Antonio, Texas 78232 (Stone Oak) and 24165 West IH-10, Suite 102, San Antonio, Texas 78257 (Leon Springs).

Dr. Ghohestani received his medical degree from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences (1993). He completed a surgery internship at Pennsylvania Hospital (University of Pennsylvania) and a dermatology residency at Thomas Jefferson University. He earned a Master's degree in Cutaneous Biology, Cosmetology, and Skin Pharmacology, and a PhD (summa cum laude) in Skin Immunobiology from Claude Bernard University in Lyon, France. He completed additional fellowships at the University of Nice School of Medicine in France. He served as Associate Professor of Dermatology at Thomas Jefferson University (1998–2007) and as Chief and Associate Professor of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at UT Health Science Center at San Antonio. He has over 20 years of clinical experience.

He is affiliated with University Health/UT Health San Antonio and Baptist Medical Center. His research was funded by the NIH, Dermatology Foundation, and American Skin Association. He has received numerous national and international awards including the Charles Grupper Prize (French Society of Dermatology), Kharazmi International Research Prize, Robert Degos Award, and Stelwagon Award. He has presented at over 100 national and international meetings. He has received Patients' Choice Awards (2009–2019) and Compassionate Doctor Awards (2010–2019).

Services include medical dermatology, surgical dermatology, Mohs surgery, laser skin resurfacing, laser scar treatment (including acne scars), laser hair removal, IPL, Botox, dermal fillers, chemical peels, vein treatment, mole removal, skin cancer screening, and medical-grade skincare.
