Richard Smialek

Dr. Richard Smialek, DO, FACOS, is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon and the Medical Director of the Laser Division at Central Ohio Skin and Cancer (COSC) in Westerville, Ohio, with offices at 430 Altair Parkway, Suite 210 and the COSC Laser Center at 300 Polaris Parkway, Suite 3300. He is certified in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery. He has been practicing since 1981, in Columbus since 1985, and with COSC since 2010. As a sub-specialist in laser surgery and technology for over twenty years, he oversees the laser services division, providing the full spectrum of cosmetic skin laser procedures. He earned his undergraduate pre-medical degree from Villanova University and his osteopathic medical degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (1972). He completed a general surgery residency at Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Stratford, New Jersey, a hand surgery fellowship at Jefferson University in Philadelphia, and plastic surgery training. He is a member of the American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery and the American Osteopathic Association, and a past president and current Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. He is affiliated with OhioHealth Doctors Hospital. COSC was named number one in Columbus CEO Best of Business 2023 and offers medical, cosmetic, surgical, laser treatments, and patch testing. The practice is led by principal partner Dr. DeMaria, recently ranked as one of the top ten dermatologists in Central Ohio.
