Sarah Mess

Dr. Sarah Mess, MD, is a board-certified plastic surgeon in Columbia, Maryland. She earned her BA in Biology magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania (1994) and her MD summa cum laude from the University of Maryland School of Medicine (1999). She completed her plastic surgery residency at Georgetown University Hospital. She is the daughter of an orthopedic surgeon father and an artist mother, a background that shaped her surgical artistry. She serves as Instructor of Plastic Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital (since 2009) and Instructor of Aesthetic Surgery at Georgetown University Hospital (since 2024), and is Faculty at the Allergan Medical Institute. She served as Plastic Surgery Section Chief at Howard County General in 2014. She has over 25 peer-reviewed publications in prestigious plastic surgery journals, including research on ultrasound for aesthetic injections, fat transfer to the breast, and lower face rejuvenation with injectables. She is a member of ASPS (Program Committee), the Aesthetic Society, and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. She was one of the first plastic surgeons in Maryland and DC to offer CoolSculpting. Her practice features an AAAASF-certified surgery center.
