Alexander Mayer

Dr. Alexander Mayer, MD, is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon at MaineGeneral Surgery in Augusta and Waterville, Maine. A native New Englander, he attended Colby College for his undergraduate studies and earned his MD from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University (2015). He completed an integrated plastic surgery residency at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System, serving as Chief Resident (2020-2021), followed by an aesthetic and cosmetic surgery fellowship. He joined MaineGeneral's medical staff in August 2022 and provides services at both the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta and the Thayer Center for Health in Waterville. He is a published researcher with four publications and 13 citations, including work on nipple-sparing mastectomy reconstruction in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery: Global Open. He has testified before the Maine legislature on improving access to reconstructive surgery in rural communities. He speaks Spanish.
