Amir Karam

Dr. Amir Karam, MD, is a dual board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and the founder of Carmel Valley Facial Plastic Surgery in San Diego, California. He has devoted his entire career exclusively to facial rejuvenation and is recognized as one of the top facial plastic surgeons in the world, drawing patients from across the globe for his proprietary Vertical Restore procedure. A San Diego native, Dr. Karam graduated summa cum laude (top two percent) from the University of California, San Diego, with double majors in biochemistry and anthropology, and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the UC Irvine School of Medicine, graduating in the top ten percent and being elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his residency in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery at UC Irvine, followed by a fellowship in advanced facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, also at UC Irvine. He received the Gordon J. Hatfield Surgical Award for excellence. Dr. Karam is certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. He serves on the academic clinical faculty at UC San Diego and is a staff surgeon at the San Diego VA Medical Center, where he trains surgical residents. He has performed over 7,000 facial rejuvenation procedures and has been recognized 18 times as Best Cosmetic Surgeon or Best Facial Plastic Surgeon by various media outlets. Through thousands of facelift procedures, Dr. Karam developed the Vertical Restore, a comprehensive deep plane technique that repositions the brow, midface, jawline, and neck in a single procedure with advanced fat transfer.
