Anne Chapas

Dr. Anne Chapas, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon who founded UnionDerm (Union Square Laser Dermatology) in New York City. She graduated magna cum laude in Biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania and earned her MD with honors from Harvard Medical School. She completed a dermatology residency and prestigious fellowships in both Mohs micrographic surgery and procedural, cosmetic, and laser dermatology. She is certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a Fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, the American Academy of Dermatology, the American College of Mohs Surgery, and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. She is a Clinical Instructor of Dermatology at Mount Sinai Medical Center and directs an ASDS Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery Fellowship program at UnionDerm. She has published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters, many in collaboration with Dr. Roy Geronemus at the Laser and Skin Surgery Center of New York. Her philosophy is that for patient safety and the best results, medical dermatologic procedures should be performed only by board-certified dermatologists. All medical procedures at UnionDerm are performed personally by physicians, not nurses, aestheticians, or physician extenders. Her team includes Dr. Jennifer MacGregor, Dr. Jennifer Chwalek, Dr. Robyn Gmyrek, and Dr. Yunyoung Claire Chang. Patients describe her as having a lovely bedside manner, being warm and professional.
