Roy Geronemus

Dr. Roy G. Geronemus, MD, is one of the world's leading authorities in laser and cosmetic dermatology and the Founder and Director of the Laser and Skin Surgery Center of New York, which he established in 1993 at 317 East 34th Street. He graduated from Harvard University and earned his MD at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He trained in dermatology at New York University Medical Center, where he was Chief Resident, and completed fellowship training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology. He is a Clinical Professor of Dermatology at NYU Medical Center, where he founded its laser program and served nine years as Chief of Dermatologic and Laser Surgery. He is a past president of both the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and Chairman of the Board of the New York Stem Cell Foundation. He has been involved with the clinical development of numerous laser systems and technologies including the pulsed dye laser (VBeam), Fraxel, Clear and Brilliant, Thermage, Sofwave, CoolSculpting, picosecond laser, CO2, Erbium, Ruby, and many others now used worldwide. He has published over 450 manuscripts, chapters, and books, with 16,335 citations on ResearchGate and 486 publications. He has received the Ellet Drake Award and Leon Goldman Award from ASLMS, the Samuel J. Stegman Award from ASDS, the University of Miami Alumni Hall of Fame, Physician of the Year from the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation, and the inaugural Vic Narurkar Innovations in Aesthetic Dermatology Award. Newsweek ranked him the number 4 Cosmetic Dermatologist in America in 2023. He has been a Castle Connolly Top Doctor every year since 1999. His 30,000+ square foot center houses over 100 lasers, dozens of injectable treatments, and serves 230,000 patients, with a team of fellowship-trained board-certified dermatologists and plastic surgeons. The center also has a location in Southampton. He is a VBF Medical Director providing laser therapy for families with vascular birthmarks.
