Miguel Gallegos

Dr. Miguel Gallegos, MD, FACS, is a board-certified plastic surgeon and the founder of Hermosa Plastic Surgery in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which he established in 1999. He completed his undergraduate training in pharmacy at the University of New Mexico, where he also worked at his father's pharmacy in Las Vegas, New Mexico. He earned his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in 1992, completed his general surgery training at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, a fellowship in advanced microsurgery at St. Joseph Hospital, and his plastic surgery residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, with additional specialized training in pediatric plastic surgery at Children's Memorial Hospital and Shriners Hospital. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is affiliated with Lovelace Women's Hospital. He has over 33 years of experience. Early in his career, he performed hand surgery, nerve and vascular reconstruction, and microsurgical procedures while serving emergency room rotations at St. Joseph and Presbyterian Hospitals. He also volunteers his expertise in the Department of Surgery at the University of New Mexico. He has published research in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery on pedicle flaps for breast reconstruction and in Aesthetic Surgery Journal on single-stage correction for tuberous breast deformity.
