Scot A. Martin

Dr. Scot A. Martin, MD, is a board-certified plastic surgeon and the founder of Martin Plastic Surgery in Las Cruces, New Mexico, which he opened in 2002. Originally from West Texas, he completed his undergraduate education at Texas Tech University and Austin College. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, completed a five-year general surgery residency at the University of Oklahoma (with a year of surgical research at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he wrote numerous articles and a major book chapter), and a plastic surgery residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham under the direction of Luis O. Vasconez, MD, a world-renowned plastic surgeon. Following residency, Dr. Vasconez invited him to stay on staff and teach future plastic surgeons. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. His ASAPS membership made him one of only six inductees statewide and the only New Mexico inductee practicing outside of Albuquerque. He is a nationally recognized leader in breast augmentation and a LEAD Surgeon for Mentor Corporation, a recognition of his status as a breast augmentation leader on a national level. He is affiliated with MountainView Regional Medical Center. He has published research on implant insertion with funnels and capsular contracture, chin ptosis correction, eyelid ptosis correction, and iron deficiency and gallstone formation.
