Neil Zemmel

Dr. Neil J. Zemmel, MD, FACS, is a board-certified plastic surgeon and the founder of Richmond Aesthetic Surgery and Dermlounge, located at 11934 West Broad Street, Suite 200, Richmond, Virginia 23233.

Dr. Zemmel was born in Norfolk, Virginia, and attended Norfolk Academy. He earned his undergraduate degree in fine arts and science from the College of William and Mary and his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine (1998), where he scored 98% on the USMLE Part I and published four research papers. He completed a six-year combined plastic and reconstructive surgery program at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident of Plastic Surgery and scoring in the 92nd percentile on the Plastic Surgery In-Service Exam, for which he received the S. Dawson Theogaraj Scholarship Award.

He practiced plastic surgery in Miami Beach, Florida (2004–2007) before returning to Virginia to found Richmond Aesthetic Surgery. He has performed over 5,000 surgeries in 20 years. In 2016, he was selected by Allergan as one of five surgeons for a special preceptorship with Dr. Charles Randquist in Stockholm, Sweden, for advanced breast surgery techniques. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery (2006), a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the Aesthetic Society (ASAPS), the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Medical Society of Virginia. He is Medical Director of Plastic Surgery Services at St. Francis Hospital.

He has been voted Top Doc by Richmond Magazine multiple times, named Best Plastic Surgeon by Style Weekly Readers' Choice, recognized by Richmond Times-Dispatch "The Best" awards, and featured in Virginia Life "Best of Virginia." He has appeared on "The Doctors" TV show and multiple local news programs. He also founded Dermlounge, a medical spa offering non-surgical aesthetic treatments.
