Robert Schutz

Dr. Robert J. Schutz, MD, FACS, is a board-certified plastic surgeon at Black Hills Plastic Surgery, located at 3615 5th Street, Suite 101, Rapid City, South Dakota 57701. He has over 35 years of experience in the medical field and is the most experienced plastic surgeon in western South Dakota.

Dr. Schutz earned his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska (1986). He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa (1986–1991), followed by his plastic surgery residency at Tulane University Medical Center/Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans, Louisiana (1991–1993).

He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the AMA, the South Dakota State Medical Association, the Black Hills Medical Society, the Midwestern Association of Plastic Surgeons, and the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society. He has served as a clinical professor at the Sanford Medical Association, University of South Dakota, and received a certificate of recognition from the Allergan Academy. He is affiliated with Black Hills Surgical Hospital, Monument Health Rapid City Hospital, and the Plastic Surgical Center of Rapid City. He practices alongside Dr. Mary Snyder and draws patients from Gillette, Wyoming, and Pierre and Spearfish, South Dakota.
