Richard H. Tholen

Dr. Richard H. Tholen, MD, FACS, FICS, is a board-certified plastic surgeon and the senior partner and president of Minneapolis Plastic Surgery, Ltd. in Golden Valley, Minnesota. He earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed seven years of post-MD surgical training in both general surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, joining MPS in 1987. Dr. Tholen holds board certifications from both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons. With over 37 years of experience, his practice focuses almost exclusively on cosmetic surgery, including breast augmentation, breast lift, breast implant revision, facelift, rhinoplasty, lower body lift after massive weight loss, liposuction, and transgender surgical procedures. He has served as president of the Minnesota Society of Plastic Surgeons and president of the Midwestern Association of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Tholen is a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He has also served as co-director for laser education at Abbott Northwestern Hospital and has taught laser surgery courses nationally and internationally, including at Samsung Hospital in Seoul, South Korea.
