William Hedden

Dr. William J. Hedden, MD, is a board-certified plastic surgeon and the founder of Hedden & Gunn Plastic Surgery, located at the Greystone Cosmetic Center in Birmingham, Alabama. He specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery of the face, breasts, body, and skin, and is extensively experienced in both surgical and minimally invasive procedures. Dr. Hedden earned his Bachelor of Science degree in interdisciplinary studies, with majors in sculpting and anatomy, from the University of Florida in Gainesville, graduating with honors. He received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa in 1993. He completed his general surgery residency at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he served as Chief Resident from 1998 to 1999, followed by his plastic surgery residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Dr. Hedden is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (The Aesthetic Society), the American College of Surgeons, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, and the Alabama Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. Dr. Hedden has been selected as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor and is a recipient of the Patients' Choice Award. He was named one of only 35 leading plastic surgeons selected for the Mentor LEAD (Leadership, Experience and Development in Breast Augmentation) Program Advisory Board, through which he participates in discussions on the latest advancements in breast augmentation technology. He has also been voted one of the best plastic surgeons in Birmingham by the readers of Birmingham Magazine. Most of his procedures are performed in the practice's fully accredited outpatient surgery suite at the Greystone Cosmetic Center. Dr. Hedden is affiliated with area hospitals including Trinity Medical Center, Brookwood Medical Center, and Children's of Alabama Hospital.
