Maakan Taghizadeh

Dr. Maakan Taghizadeh, MD, known affectionately as "Dr. Tag," is a board-certified plastic surgeon and the founder of U Plastic Surgery + Aesthetics in Baltimore, Maryland. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgeons. Born and raised in Baltimore, he attended Gilman School and graduated cum laude from James Madison University, where he was a Division I varsity wrestler. Before medicine, he was the top Prozac sales representative in the USA at Eli Lilly and Company. He earned his MD from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, completed general surgery residency at Ohio State University Medical Center (where he won the prestigious Intern of the Year Award), and finished his plastic surgery residency at Ohio State as well. He returned to Baltimore for a fellowship in Breast, Microsurgical, and Aesthetic Surgery at Mercy Medical Center. He started a microsurgical program at St. Agnes Hospital, performing DIEP and SGAP flaps for breast reconstruction. He has been named Baltimore Magazine's Top Doctor for Cosmetic Surgery, Body Contouring, Breast and Facial Surgery every year since 2018. He has also earned the RealSelf Top Doctor, RealSelf 500, and RealSelf Hall of Fame awards, and was named one of 10 Best Plastic Surgeons in Maryland by the American Institute of Plastic Surgeons.
