Phillip Langsdon

Dr. Phillip R. Langsdon, MD, FACS, is a board-certified facial plastic surgeon and the founder of The Langsdon Clinic in Germantown/Memphis, Tennessee. Established in 1986, his practice is limited exclusively to cosmetic surgery of the face, nose, eyes, head, and neck.

Dr. Langsdon earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he was named Barton Scholar. He completed an otolaryngology–head and neck surgery residency at Indiana University, followed by an AAFPRS fellowship in cosmetic surgery of the face. He is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

He served as the 2018–2019 President of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the world's largest organization of facial plastic surgeons. He is a tenured full Professor and Chief of the Division of Facial Plastic Surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where he has taught for over 25 years. He developed the SMMS (submental muscular medialization and suspension) neck technique, first published in 2012. He is also an innovator in preservation rhinoplasty. He has given over 300 medical presentations and trained over 90 doctors in facelift techniques. He directs an AAFPRS fellowship training program. He is affiliated with Baptist Memorial Hospital–Memphis.

He has appeared on The Today Show, CNN Headline News, CSPAN, and PBS Marketplace. He has been selected for Best Doctors in America and Americas' Top Physicians. Patients travel from across the U.S. and internationally. He has over 40 publications including medical articles, book chapters, and a textbook.
